William Clegg Quattlebaum

Mr. William "Bill" Quattlebaum, Jr., age 71, of Bear Creek Rd., Carrollton, Ga., passed away Saturday, March 10, 2007. He was born October 10, 1935 in North Augusta, S.C. to the late Augusta Virginia Kessler and the late William Clegg Quattlebaum, Sr. Mr. Quattlebaum retired from the Georgia Department of Human Resources, having worked at the GraceWood State School and Hospital. Prior to that, he worked for 11 years as a park ranger with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and earlier in his career worked for the E.I. DuPont Denemors & Company. He had served as Chaplain of the Aiken County, S.C. Detention Center and the Columbia County, Ga. Detention Center. Mrs. Quattlebaum had various leisure time interests that included gourmet cooking and being an avid reader. He was also a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Alan Quattlebaum. Survivors include his wife, Leah Rowell Quattlebaum; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William J. Quattlebaum of Carrollton and Tony Lee and Janet Richbourg of Lewisville, Ga.; four grandchildren, Charles Wayne Quattlebaum, Kevin Michael and Allison Quattlebaum, Remington Kessler Quattlebaum and Tony Lee Richbourg, Jr.; also two great-grandchildren, Cameron Quattlebaum and Daniel Wayne Quattlebaum. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 11 a.m. from Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Chris King and Rev. Talmadge Chandler officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, March 14 from 4 until 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church, Bremen Hwy., Carrollton, Ga. 30117.
