About William Jackle
inner circle, NW quadrant Washington - William G. "Bill" Jackle, 88, of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., father of a Washington woman, passed away quietly on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, with his three daughters at his side in Washington, Ill. Due to his declining health from COPD, Bill was dragged away from paradise by his daughters in April of 2008, so he could be closer to them and they could care for him at the end of his life. Bill was born Aug. 15, 1920, in Elgin, Ill., to William F. and Matilda (Waterman) Jackle. Bill lost his mother when he was 6 and was raised by his grandmother, Rosina Waterman. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 1/2 years, Ann (Callahan), who died in 2005. Bill met Ann at a Halloween dance in 1942, when he spied a cute blue-eyed girl with great legs. Bill served in the Army Signal Corps during WWII in the Pacific. After the war, Bill and Ann made their home in Champaign, Ill., where Bill worked 44 years for Western Electric, until he retired in 1982, and he and Ann moved to Fort Myers Beach, where he leaves behind many special friends.
