William Joseph Fager

***************************** Published July 10, 2004 - Chanute, KS ERIE, KS - William J. "Billy" Fager, 37, of Erie, Kansas, died Friday, July 9, 2004, as a result of a car accident east of St. Paul, Kansas. He was born Feb. 3, 1967, in Parsons, Kansas, the son of George A. and Judy A. (VanLeeuwen) Fager. He grew up and attended schools in St. Paul, graduating from St. Paul High School in 1985. He attended Labette Community College and Pittsburg State University before graduating from Kansas State University in 1990. He worked in Lawrence, KS for five years before moving to Erie. He worked at Farmer's National Bank, Walnut, KS, farmed with his parents, and bought and sold farm machinery. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, St. Paul, KS, a fourth-degree Knights of Columbus member, a former board member of the Farm Bureau, and a former member of Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed collecting toy tractors, deer hunting, and helping with children's T-ball. On June 2, 1990, he married Cindy M. Cagle in St. Paul, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Robert Fager, and three daughters, Lauren, Sereta and Catrina Fager, all of the home; his parents, of Erie, KS; two brothers, Jim Fager, Lenexa, KS, and Stacey Fager, Wichita, KS; and a sister, Emily Gronau, Girard, KS. He was preceded in death by an infant twin brother, Robert Eugene Fager. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, July 13, at St. Francis Catholic Church, St. Paul, KS, led by Father Daniel Vacca. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, St. Paul, Kansas. Memorials to an educational fund for his children may be left with the funeral home.
