About Wendy Maag

Wendy Lynn (Henrichs) Maag, age 61, of Florence, SD passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Florence with Father Doug Binsfeld as celebrant. Burial will be at the Esterly Cemetery near Florence. Note: visitation will be Tuesday from noon to 3:00 p.m. at Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel in Watertown THEN WILL CONTINUE in Florence from 5-8:00 pm with a 7:00 p.m. rosary at the Blessed Sacrament Church. Pallbearers will be Craig Redlin, Merlin Heathcote, Drew Maag, Melvin Heathcote, Kelly Maag, Jeff Maag, Brad Popham and Brian Henrichs. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Wendy's friends at OEM Worldwide. Wendy was born on October 25, 1950 at Watertown, SD to Hiko and Deane (Patterson) Henrichs. She attended Rauville Country School No. 26 through the eighth grade; she attended Waverly High School and graduated in 1968. Wendy married Robert (Bob) W. Maag on February 6, 1971 at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Florence, SD, and they moved to a farm east of Florence where they resided for forty years. Wendy enjoyed a number of jobs including working at Midtex, the Poultry Plant, Wessex, US Lawn, Power Century, and OEM. She worked at OEM, now known as Onyx, for over 15 years. When Wendy wasn't working she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed people in general and loved to entertain and "mother" everyone. She had a gift for making people feel at home. She was a devoted Catholic and an active member of Blessed Sacrament, serving as a CCD teacher and Alter Society President. Wendy also enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, family history, working in her flower garden, walking, supporting school functions, collecting religious statues, caring for pets, and taking Sunday afternoon drives with her husband. Wendy is survived by her husband, Bob of Florence; two daughters: Rebecca Snyder, and her husband Mike, of Lake Andes; and Laura Maag of Waubay, two sons: Larry Maag of Brookings, and Richard Maag of Watertown and his fiancée Libby Carpenter; seven grandchildren: Chase, McKenzie, Nathan, and Cody Snyder; Anna Guest, and Owen and Max Rieffenberger; two brothers: Michael (Linda) Henrichs of South Shore, Daniel (Carol) Henrichs of Watertown, seven sisters: Doris (Don) Riley of Watertown, Rita (Lee) Faughn of Clark, Mona Mitchell of Dunlap, IA, Donna (Marlin) Kannas of Watertown, Wanda (Harlan) Maag of Watertown, Beverly (Marlin) Heathcote of Florence, and Janet (Keith) Maag of Langdon, ND. Wendy was preceded in death by her mother, father and brother, Paul.
