About Walter Nack
Walter C. Nack was born in Mason City, Iowa, March 15, 1892, the son of Gotfred and Emma Nack. He was baptized at Mason City, Iowa and when a young boy came to Minnesota with his parents. The Nack family later moved to Pingree, N.D. They returned to Minnesota coming to Alexandria where Walter was united in marriage to Sophy Ziegelman April 26, 1917 at St. John's Lutheran church at Garfield. After their marriage, they farmed in Leaf Valley township, La Grand township and for twenty years in Orange township before retiring in 1955. The past eight years they made their home in Alexandria, Minnesota. Mr. Nack died at the Douglas county Hospital July 1, 1963 at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 16 days. Surviving are his wife and four children: emil of Osakis; Harold of Nelson; Mabel (Mrs. Reinhold Klug) of Garfield, Myrtle (Mrs. Don Artleyl) of Minneapolis. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren; one sister, Olga (Mrs. Don Schultz) of Regina, Sask. Canada, one brother, Ben of Englewood, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Funeral services were held July 3, 1963 at Zion Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Rev. K. K. Hill officiated. Interment was in Kinkead cemetery, Alexandria. Pallbearers were Lawrence Nack, Glen Nack, Danny Nack, Gerhart Nack, Rolland Nack and Ronald Nack. (Park Region Echo, 18 July 1963)
