About W. Edwards
Lee was born Dec. 23, 1922 to John Rollen and Anna May (Scott) Edwards near Laddonia, MO, as the youngest of four children. After graduating from Stilwell High School in 1941, he planned to attend K-State and continue farming with his Dad. Instead he spent several years at the Tuberculosis Sanitorium in Norton, KS. While there he joined the Masonic Lodge and attained the rank of 32nd degree Mason and later joined the Shriners. He worked for John Deere in Wichita and then took a job for Bendix/Allied Signal and moved to Kansas City, MO in 1950. He married Ardis F. Sawyer on October 12, 1951 in Wichita, KS. The family relocated to Overland Park in 1962 and to Edgerton in 1969. After working as a purchasing agent at Allied Signal for thirty years he retired and worked part time for Rush and West selling the same parts he had been purchasing to only one customer, Allied Signal. When his part time job interfered with his and Ardis’ travel plans he retired again and they enjoyed travelling extensively until her sudden death. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Lavona , Guy and H. Wayne; daughter Marlene and husband Rourke Madron and their two children (1999) and his wife, Ardis (2000).
