About Victoria Oakes
Victoria Kink Oakes Victoria Kink Oakes, age 88 passed away June 28, 2006 in Bellingham. She was born July 7, 1917 in Bellingham, WA to Paul and Mary Kink. She graduated from Fairhaven High and later married Stuart Oakes in 1942. Together they raised their family in South Bellingham. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed competing in the Women's Drill Team. Victoria loved hosting family gatherings, bowling, knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed spending time playing bingo and slot machines so that "the family won't have to fight over the inheritance." She was the "candy counter lady" at Sears for many years, and later worked at Fred Meyer. She was preceded in death by husband Stuart in 1981. Victoria is survived by daughters Paula (husband Dennis) Lingenfelter of Utah and Marianne (husband James) Ott of Port Hadlock, WA, brother Mitch Kink of Bellingham, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Whatcom County. A Celebration of Vickie's Life will be held at Westford Funeral Home on Mon. July 3 at 11:30 AM followed by a reception across the street at Westford's Broadway Hall, 1300 Broadway. Interment will follow at Bayview City Cemetery.
