About Vernon Zachman
Born in Rogers, Minnesota, Brother Vernon Zachman M.Afr., joined the Society of the Missionaries of Africa at Alexandria Bay on September 14, 1958, and received his formation at the Scholasticate of the White Fathers in Lennoxville, Canada. Forming part of the Communities of Franklin, the Camp Lavigerie of Onchiota, and Washington, Brother Vernon spent many years as a Missionary in Uganda and Malawi. For brief periods, he also formed part of the Communities of Monte Cucco and Villa Cavalletti of Rome, and in Jerusalem. Retiring to the Retirement Home of the White Fathers at St. Petersburg, USA, in 2007, he passed away after a bout of pneumonia on Monday, April 19, 2010, at 11.30 pm., aged 84, whilst recovered at St. Anthony's Hospital. His body was cremated and the remains where sent to his hometown in Minnesota for burial.
