About Veda Pottorff
Veda "Kay" Pottorff, 88, of Dixon, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022, at her home, in Dixon, surrounded by her loving family. She worked in the cafeteria at Franklin Grove High School, then for HWI, Dixon, retiring in 1997. Kay was born September 17, 1934, in Fairfield, IL, the daughter of Seth and Ruth (Montgomery) Sons. She married Ralph Pottorff on June 27, 1952, in Mt. Vernon IL. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2008. Kay enjoyed quilting, cross stitching and tending to her flower gardens. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her, four children, two sons and their wives and two daughters and their husbands; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren, with one more due in April; one sister; two brothers and one sister-in-law. Veda was preceded in death by her parents; nine siblings, Eugene Sons, Ewing Sons, Avis Sons, Ivis Masterson, Thelma Griffith, Dellas Sons, Shirley Keen, Harry Sons and David Sons. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon. Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Friday, November 18, 2022, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon, with the Rev. Colleen Lawrence, officiating. Private burial will be at Franklin Grove Cemetery in Franklin Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon, IL.
