Una Irene Johnson

"Una Irene Johnson, age 102, a longtime Day Creek resident passed away peacefully Friday, April 23, 2021 at her daughter's home in Day Creek. She was born April 15, 1919, in Alger, to Emmet Clinton and Ida May (Fugett) Bowles, one of 14 children. Una grew up during the Great Depression, and shared many stories of those hard times. As a young girl, she lived on the Hood Canal, and attended school there. Una married her husband, Nels Johnson, April 24, 1937, and raised their four children in the Clear Lake and Day Creek area. She was an avid organic gardener and canned all types of fruits and vegetables. She loved to make pickles, bake pies and homemade bread. She also raised chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys, guinea hens and even pheasants. Una orchestrated the family farm and milked a cow which supplied her family and neighbors with raw milk and also fresh eggs. She loved to sew, crotchet and quilt; family members all have a "Gramma Unie" quilt. She was active in the community club and a member of the Day Creek Chapel. Una is survived by her children, Bob and wife, Priscilla Johnson of Burlington, Irene Allen of Clear Lake and Debra Wilson of Day Creek; 12 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 25 great great grandchildren; and a great great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nels Johnson; a daughter, Karen McIntyre; her son in-law Dale Allen, son in-law Ray Wilson and grandson in-law Lenny Clontz, and 13 siblings including her twin sister, Ina. A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00, Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Clear Lake Cemetery, Pastor Rick Miles presiding. A time of visitation will be available from 9:00 to 5:00 Thursday and Friday at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Share your memories of Una and sign the online guest register."
