GARLAND - Una Vernelle Wilkinson Cates was born April 13, 1920 in Fannin County, Texas to A.E. "Ed" Wilkinson and Vera Worshan Wilkinson. She married James Harold Cates on September 12, 1941 in Ector, Texas. She died Monday, March 3, 2014 in Garland, Texas at the age of 93. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by son, James Michael "Mike" Cates and wife Mary; grandson, James Michael Cates, Jr. and wife Melissa; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Parker; niece, Peggy Partridge and husband Billy; nephew, Jimmy Wilkinson and wife Martha. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Cates; parents, A.E. "Ed" and Vera Wilkinson; and brother, Murl Wilkinson. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the service will be Mike Cates. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Wednesday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 1 p.m. until service time at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas. Arrangements are with Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas. An online registry may be signed at www.tjmfuneral.com.
