Tressie Marie Garrison Gwaltney

Obituary courtesy of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home: Tressie Garrison Gwaltney, 92, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Jennings Healthcare Center in North Vernon, Indiana. Mrs. Gwaltney was born on July 13, 1918 in Greenfield, Indiana the daughter of Lavern and Lena Gard Milliman. She married her first husband Leroy Pete Garrison on March 28, 1959; he preceded her in death on August 10, 1992. She married her second husband, John Gwaltney on June 3, 1995; he preceded her in death on August 15, 2001. Mrs. Gwaltney was a cook at the former Community Health Care Center in North Vernon, Indiana and had previously worked for RCA in Indianapolis, Indiana on the assembly line. She attended New Castle High School in New Castle, Indiana. She attended Vernon Baptist Church for several years. She enjoyed dancing, crocheting, working in her garden and dogs. Survivors include her two sons, Rev. Jerry Disbro and his wife Darlene of Lebanon, Indiana and David Disbro and his wife Marilyn of Indianapolis, Indiana; two step-children, Larry Garrison and his wife Kathy of Indianapolis, Indiana and Gloria Massey of Houston, Texas; one sister, Minnie Waltermire and her husband Albert of Scipio, Indiana; eighteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Leroy Pete Garrison and John Gwaltney; two brothers, Merrill "Bud" Milliman and Robert "Bob" Milliman. Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, Indiana with the Rev. Don Galloway officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.
