Thomas Zahar Easton Thomas Zahar, of Easton, a student at UMass-Dartmouth and an avid golfer, died following a four month battle with cancer on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was 22. Tom was born in Stoughton and raised in Easton. He graduated from Oliver Ames High School in 2003. At the time of his death, he was in his final year of study as an accounting major at UMass-Dartmouth. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed being both a participant and a spectator. He played both Babe Ruth baseball and high school football and was a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers. He also loved golf and spent a great deal of time on the Pine Oaks Golf Course in South Easton. He had balanced both work and school since high school. For six years, he worked in track operations at Raynham Park. Tom was a loving and good-hearted son who was deeply loved by his mother, Sandra A. Ford of Easton, by his father, Thomas G. Zahar of Lakeville and by his stepparents, Bobby Ford and Annette Zahar. He was also the cherished brother of Christopher Zahar of Easton and Laurice Nickiloulias of Taunton; the fun-loving uncle to Hailey and Brady; the beloved grandson of Thelma and Genaro Cristoforo of Easton and Salim and Rosemary Zahar of Tewksbury; and the stepbrother of Cori Dexter, Shayna Zoltowski and Taryn Ford, all of Duxbury. He is also survived by many devoted aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service will be held in the Edgewood Church of Christ, 26 Edgewood St., Mansfield, on Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Easton. Calling hours will be held in the Copeland-MacKinnon Funeral Home, 38 Center St., Easton, on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Donations in Tom’s memory may be made toward Cancer Care at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, 330 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215.
