SR. THERESA LOUISE OAKES (1905 - 1991) Sister Theresa Louise Oakes, O.S.F., 86, a resident of St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, a formerly of Sun City, Ariz., passed to her eternal reward on Saturday, Sept. 28, 1991 at St. Mary's Home. Funeral services at 9 am Tuesday at St. Mary's Home Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas Wojciechowski. Burial will be in St. Mary's Home Cemetery, Manitowoc. She was born February 1, 1905 in Cloquet, Minnesota, daughter of the late William and Anna Hansen Oakes. In 1925 she joined the Franciscan Sisters of Rice Lake, Wis. In 1931 she became an X-ray Technician at St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn. from 1944 to 1960 she was an X-ray Technician and Laboratory Technician at Good Samaritan Hospital, Zanesville, Ohio; from 1960 to 1966 she worked as an X-ray Technician at St. Francis Memorial Hospital, West Point, Neb; from 1966 to 1970 she was an X-ray and Nuclear Technologist at Holy Family Hospital in Manitowoc. During this time she also studied Nuclear Medicine at the Veteran's Administration Hospitals in Milwaukee and Minneapolis. From 1970 to 1982, sister Theresa Louise lived at the Sun City, Arizona Mission, caring for the elderly. In 1982 she moved to St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, where she has resided with the Felician Sisters. Sister Theresa Louise was an Emeritus member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and Emeritus member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, charter member of same. Survivors include the Felician sisters, a brother, Andrew Oakes of Watertown, Wis.; two sisters, E. Lynn Johns of Sun City, Ariz., and Dorothy DeBruin of Manitowoc; a sister-in-law, Irene Oakes of Racine, Wis.; also many nieces and nephews including Rev. Edward DeBruin, Tim DeBruin, Elaine Lyons, Catherine (Jim) Kumbalek, Edith (Claude) Weier, Glen (Sandy) Oakes, Mary Ann (Jim) Reeves, Donald (Judy) Oakes, Allen Oakes, Jack Oakes and Barbara Oakes. Also other relatives and friends. Friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home form 4-9 pm this Monday evening and Tuesday from 8 am at St. Mary's Home Chapel until the time of services. A prayer service will be held this Monday evening at 7 pm by Rev. Wojciechowski.
