About Sylvia Factor
FACTOR, SYLVIA (KATZ), 83, of 123 Woodbine Street, Providence, a retired office manager for the State of RI, died August 28, 2005 at Steere House. She was the wife of Sidney Factor for almost 62 years. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Harry and Mollie (Sales) Katz, she was a lifelong resident of the city. Mrs. Factor received a Bachelor's Degree from the New England Conservatory of Music. She worked for the State of RI for 22 years, retiring in 1992 as the Office Manager of the Warren office of the RI Department of Employment Security. Mrs. Factor sang professionally for over 40 years, and was a longtime member of the Temple Emanu-El Choir. She was a member of Temple Emanu-El and its Leisure Club, and was a member and past secretary of the RI Jewish Historical Association. Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters; Maxine Kingsbury and her husband Dr. Barry Kingsbury of Hopkinton, MA and Judith Factor and her husband Dr. Robert Wechsler of New Rochelle, NY, one son; R. Maxwell Factor of Providence, and three grandchildren; Alex, Adam and Diana. She was the sister of the late Rebecca Goldman. The funeral service will be held TODAY at 10:30 AM at SUGARMAN-SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 458 Hope St., Providence. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the RI Jewish Historical Association, 130 Sessions St., Providence, RI 02906 or The Leisure Club of Temple Emanu-El, 99 Taft Ave., Providence, RI 02906. Shiva will be observed at her late residence, Tue 7-9, Wed & Thur 2-4 & 7-9, Fri 2-4 and Sun 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Published in The Providence Journal on 8/30/2005
