About Stanley Yager

Hawkinsville — Stanley James "Jim" Yager, 64, husband of Glenda, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital, New Hartford. A native and life long resident of Hawkinsville, he was born on September 28, 1943, a son of John and Iola Fasset Yager. He attended Hawkinsville Elementary School, and Boonville Central School. In 1965, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Training Center at Great Lakes, Ill. After completing boot camp, he was stationed in Brownsville, TX, Santa Barbara, CA., and Okinawa before going to Viet Nam, where he served as a Sea Bee. In Vietnam, he participated in a team of Navy men that built the Da Nang Air Strip. He was the recipient of the Fleet Marine Force Combat Operation Insignia on Ribbon Bar for Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. After his honorable discharge in November, 1968, he returned to Hawkinsville. On April 18, 1964, Stanley was united in marriage with Glenda E. Ramsdale in Hawkinsville, by Rev. Henry Hospers. After his service in the Navy, the couple operated a gas station and country store in Hawkinsville. He also operated a dairy farm on Millers Woods Road from 1981, until the present time. He was a member of the Hawkinsville Methodist Church, Boonville Rod & Gun Club, and he greatly enjoyed and treasured his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Glenda E. Stanley, is survived by three sons, Stanley James Yager, Jr., and wife, Dawn, Jonathon Henry Yager, Kenneth Norman Yager and his wife Carolyn, all of Hawkinsville; five daughters, Theresa Yvonne Dailey, and husband, Darren, Tammy Lynn Heaton, and husband, Justin, both of Hawkinsville, Joanne Gail Yager, Andes, NY, Mae Roxanne Humphrey, and husband, Charles, Jr., Constableville, Kimberly Ellen Yager, Hawkinsville; eleven grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Yager, and wife, Marie, Hawkinsville, Edward Yager, and wife, Christine, Constableville; four sisters, Emma Buffett, and husband, Alton, New Jersey, Jackie Satterly, West Winfield, Sarah Johnson, Luella (Peg) Vollmar, both of Hawkinsville. He was predeceased by a brother, John Yager, a sister Tootsie, and by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Yager. Interment with Military Rites from Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Harland J. Hennessey Post VFW, and Tun Tavern Marine Corps League will be in Boonville Cemetery. Rome Daily Sentinel, June 6, 2008
