Sophie Ann Rabon

Sophie "Ann" Rabon October 25, 1936 - December 12, 2022 Sophie "Ann" Johnson Rabon, of Winnabow, NC, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on Monday, December 12, 2022, at the age of 86. Mrs. Rabon was a native of Brunswick County, born on October 25, 1936, daughter of the late Daniel Russell Johnson and Clara Taylor Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Rabon Jr., a daughter Caroline "Ann" Rabon Eller and husband RJ and daughter Beverly "Lynne" Rabon Case Walker and her husband Al Case. She was also predeceased by six sisters and two brothers, Sarah Kopp, Russel Johnson, Katherine Liggett, Alice Warner, Rebekah Burriss, Mattie Taylor, Mary Whitaker and Jackson Johnson. Mrs. Rabon graduated from Bolivia High School in 1955. She was a loving wife and mother, a great southern cook and enjoyed sewing. In addition to being a wife and homemaker, Ms. Rabon worked at Southern Bell, now AT&T, and retired after 23 years. She was an active member and elder of New Hope Presbyterian Church where she also served as the church organist for many years. She is survived by her son Kenneth Edward Rabon and wife Donna of Gastonia, and her daughter Sandra Rabon Allen and husband Eddie of Creston NC. She was blessed and loved by many grandchildren; Randy Eller (Jennifer), Rebekah Dawn Eller-Dozier (Guy), Jeremy Eller (Holly), Emily Hanzely, Mark Case (Da), Shannon Wynne (Adam), Jessica Johns and her fiancé Jon Wall. She was also "grandma" to 15 beloved great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. The family would like to offer special thanks for the loving care provided by Jessica and Raquel of the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center and the staff at the SECU facility in Bolivia. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 17, 2022, at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 800 Cherry Tree Road NE, Winnabow NC with Pastor Lora Rissmiller officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the family home in Winnabow.
