About Signe Cox-Cavalier
Signe was born the daughter of the late Philip C. Armstrong and Thelma Lehr Armstrong. She was a graduate of Conrad High School and, after starting her family, began her career as the first school crossing guard ever to serve in Delaware City. It was a post she happily held for 35 years until her retirement. Active in her community, she was a Life Member of the Delaware City Recreation Club and never missed a Tuesday night. She was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and loved trips to the beach. Signe was a great animal lover throughout her life and cared devotedly for her companions, Susie, Casper, and Pretty Bird. She was also well known for her quick wit, her jokes, and her wonderful laugh. Most of all, Signe delighted in spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren, as well as her lifelong friend and fellow crossing guard, Barbra Nost Greenwell. She will be deeply missed by her family and the many, many people who loved her. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William H. Cox, her second husband, Joseph G. Cavalier, son, William H. Cox, Jr., brother, Charles Armstrong, and sister, Phyllis Howell. She is survived by 6 children, Thelma C. Hanwell (Walter), Philip A. Cox (Terri), Dawn S. Ford (Stephen), Joan M. Zampini (Carl), Donny S. Cox (Margie), and Raymond C. Cox (Sharon); brother, Jack Armstrong (Olive); sister, Claire Phillips; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
