Iron Mountain Daily News Tue., Apr. 19, 2005 pg. 2A Sharon Haack IRON RIVER—Sharon Marie (Holmes) Haack, 65, of 907 Sunrise Ave., in Iron River and Mesa, Ariz., passed away Saturday, April 16, 2005, at the Hospice of the Valley in Mesa following a truly remarkable battle with leukemia. She was born July 30, 1939, in Detroit, the daughter of the late Thomas and Alice (Marcel) Rapin. She moved to Iron River with her family and graduated from Iron River High School in 1957. She earned both a bachelor's and master's degree from Northern Michigan University and taught in the West Iron County Public School system for 30 years. Sharon genuinely loved those she taught and was an advocate for students with a variety of special needs. On July 19, 2000, she married Rev. Harlin Haack and the couple made a wonderful life in Mesa where she was active in her church and various service organizations and groups. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Iron River. She enjoyed gardening, nature, and all of God's landscapes. Her greatest treasure was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She lived life to its absolute fullest. She was an inspiring Christian role model to all who knew her, right through her last moments. She is survived by her husband, Harlin; one daughter, Renee (Kevin) Beauchamp of Iron River; one son, Tim Holmes of Conover, Wis.; two stepdaughters, Barbara (Tim) Ross of Lakeville, Minn. and Kathy Haack of Bloomington, Minn.; one sister, Patricia (Donald) Binns of Boulder, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Lois (Dick) Ferree of New Berlin, Wis.; her aunt, Jeanne Sharkey of Norway; cherished grandchildren, Ginny and Lissa Beauchamp, Jordan, TJ, and Jamie Ross, and Alex Holmes; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a special friend, Bennett Holmes, and cherished "mom" Ina Holmes. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Iron River. Pastor Dawn Treado-Green will officiate. Interment will be in the Norway Cemetery in Norway.
