Ryan Gregory Cebulski Cooke

Ryan Gregory (Cebulski) Cooke, 26, passed away in his sleep on October 29, 2007 at Williamsburg Sentara Hospital. Ryan was a 1999 graduate of Jamestown High School, a leading offensive lineman on its best-ever-to-date football team. He attended several years at Christopher Newport University, was on the academic Dean's list, transferred to William and Mary and subsequently to James Madison University. Ryan had an intense interest in technology and related music production, ecology and hydroponic farming. He was sorting out his career options and life plans when fate intervened. He was an ardent devotee of Phish, having traveled far and wide to attend their concerts. Ryan was predeceased by his father, Gregory Dale Cebulski and his brother, Cameron John (Cebulski) Cooke. He is survived by his mother, Cary Newcomb of Gettysburg, Pa., his fraternal grandmother, Mary Cebulski of South Bend, Indiana, his beloved sister, Keely Valentine Newcomb of Hagerstown, Md and brother Tanner Newcomb, his stepfather, Gary Newcomb, his stepmother, Melanie Cebulski of Wyomissing Pa., and his sister, Emily Celulski and brother Teddy Cebulski. Over the course of the last ten years and until recently, Ryan lived with his maternal grandparents, John and Barbara Cooke of Williamsburg. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, particularly in Northern New Jersey and South Bend, Indiana where he was born. He was baptized at the Sacred Heart Basilica on the campus of the University of Nortre Dame, his father's alma mater. It became increasingly apparent during Ryan's stay in the hospital that he was enormously popular among a widely diverse group of young people his age in James City County. Thoughtful friends stood vigil at his bedside throughout his final nights. His family will receive friends between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and again between 6:00p.m. and 8:00p.m. Friday November 2, 2007 at Nelsen Funeral Home 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday November 3, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. at Old St Bedes, the Catholic Campus Ministry Chapel on Richmond Road at Harrison Avenue.
