Ruth Ellen Beals

Obituary Ruth Ellen Beals, age 74, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 9:31 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL. Funeral services honoring her life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family. Ruth was born on June 28, 1948 in Caruthersville, MO, the only daughter of Clifton Eugene and Ruth Nora (London) McCoy. She married Larry Beals on December 31, 1985. He preceded her in death on October 24, 2017. Survivors include her children, Stacy Smith of Windsor, IL, Lisa (Chris) Gibbs of Waxhaw, NC, Jerry (Pamela) Smith of Swansea, IL, Jaret Beals of Decatur, IL, Dana (Tommy) Ratliff of Gays, IL, and Steven (Samantha) Smith of Mattoon, IL; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Frank (Alice) McCoy of Caruthersville, MO and Mike (Sharon) McCoy of Springfield, MO; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Ronnie, Talmadge, Larry, Bobby, Charles, and Keith. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, doing puzzles, reading, crocheting afghans, and crafting. She will be greatly missed.
