Russell Eugene Fagg

Russell Eugene Fagg, 84, of Springfield, passed away on February 3, 2016 at Oak Terrace Healthcare Center. He was born on October 6, 1931 in Springfield, the son of Loren R. and Wilma A. (Brown) Fagg. He married Clara Mae VanPelt in Springfield, Illinois on February 3, 1951. They had three children, and later divorced after 24 years of marriage. He then married Rose Jeanette Marr on October 25, 1975. He is survived by his children, Lawrence R. (Karen) Fagg of Sherman, Illinois, Pamela L. (Michael) Maloy of Tolono, Illinois, and Dale E. (Sandy) Fagg of Springfield, Illinois. Six grandchildren, Kari (John) Neathammer of Sherman, Illinois, Larry Fagg of Springfield, Illinois, Michael Fagg of Mechanicsburg, Illinois, Erin (Matt) Stratton of Tolono, Illinois, Jessica Fagg of Springfield, Illinois, and Brian (Kate) Maloy of Milledgeville, Illinois; and four great-grandchildren, Emma and Lauren Stratton of Tolono, Illinois; and William and Patrick Maloy of Milledgeville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean, his parents, brother Harold Fagg of Toms River, New Jersey, sister Wanda Hashman Potter of Springfield, Illinois, and an infant grandson. Russell became a union plumber/pipefitter in the early 1950s and was a strong union supporter. After working in the trade for many years, he was elected in 1986 to serve as the business manager of Local 137 Plumbers and Pipefitters. He served in this capacity until his retirement in 1999. Prior to his death he became a life member of UA Local 137 in Springfield, Illinois. He enjoyed playing cards and golf, and also enjoyed travelling and spending time with friends. Memorials were made to the Alzheimer's Association. Creamation rights were accorded. Internment is at Oak Ridge Cemetery Mausoleum, Wall J, Row A, #5 Springfield, Illinois.
