About Ronald Fager
Obituary, The Columbia Daily Tribune, October 27, 2010: Ronald Fabion Fager, 81, of Columbia passed away on Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at his home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia. A reception for family and friends will take place after the service at the funeral home. Burial will be on Saturday at St. Francis Cemetery in St. Paul, Kan. Ronald was born Aug. 26, 1929, in St. Paul, Kan., to William and Sarita Fager. He married Ida Ruth Fager, who preceded him in death. Ron graduated from St. Francis High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-52. He worked for GTE in California from 1954-66. In 1967, he moved to Columbia and worked as a supervisor for GTE until 1982. In 1983, Ron started and owned, along with Gene Meredith and David Calvin, Contact Communications Corp. and worked there until his retirement in 1995. He enjoyed the outdoors and being on his farm, but his greatest love was spending time with his family and friends. His quiet sense of humor will be missed. Ron is survived by son Rodney (Randie) Fager of Leawood, Kan.; daughter Rhonda (Tracy) Calvert of Columbia; grandchildren Ryan Fager and Benjamin and Adam Calvert; brother George Fager and wife Judy; brother Raymond; and sisters Doris and Olive. He was also preceded in death by brothers Harold, Callistus, Eddie Bill and Ralph. Tributes can be left online at www.memorialfuneralhomeandcemetery.com
