About Robert Langley

Robert Langley Obituary Robert Langley, a cherished family man, and a pillar of his community, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2024, in Bloomington, Indiana, at his home surrounded by family. He was 94. Born on June 18, 1929, in Gosport, Indiana, to Morton and Sarah (Croddy) Langley, Robert's life was a testament to the values of hard work, kindness, and the importance of family. Robert's journey began in the small town of Modesto, where he was raised alongside his eight brothers and two sisters, all of whom predeceased him. He shared a lifetime of love and memories with his late wife, Helen (Altop) Langley, who was his partner in all things. Together, they raised a family that would be Robert's greatest pride and joy. He is survived by his loving children, Mike (Jan) Langley, Karen (Larry) Arthur, and Debbie Wyman. Robert was a doting grandfather to Kyla (Charlie) Belden, Keith (Addison) Langley, Baylee (Jud) Myers, Kara (Karl) Wolf, Nicole (Joe) Bullard, Ron (Theresa) Arthur, Kelly (Scott) Misheikis, and Jason Arthur. His legacy continues through his numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss his gentle presence and wise counsel. Robert's work ethic was unparalleled. He retired from A1 Beverage, where he was respected for his dedication and friendly demeanor. Even after retirement, he continued to lend his skills to Naylor Trucking, working part-time and sharing his wealth of knowledge with all who worked alongside him. Beyond his professional life, Robert was a man of many interests. He had a natural talent for fixing things, a skill he generously used to benefit others. His spirit of service was evident in everything he did, always ready to lend a hand or offer support to those in need. Robert's generosity extended beyond his immediate circle, touching the lives of many in his community. Those who knew Robert would describe him as the epitome of friendliness, generosity, and thoughtfulness. His warm smile and kind words were a comfort to friends and strangers alike. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued, and his presence was a source of joy and stability. Robert had an uncanny ability to wiggle his ears and always kept all the children and adults amused as they attempted to do it themselves. Robert's life was a beautiful example of how to live with compassion. He approached each day with a willingness to help others, traits that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy is not only in the work he did or the things he fixed but in the love he shared and the lives he touched. A funeral service will be held for Robert on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville, beginning at 1:00 pm. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 17, from 4:00-8:00 pm, and again prior to services on Thursday starting at 11:00 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ViaQuest Hospice of Linton, Indiana. Donations can be mailed to 109 East Vincennes Street.
