About Robert Faehn

Funeral services will be Fri., Oct. 26, for Robert "Bob" Eugene Faehn, 78, Webster, former Madison resident, who died on Oct. 23, 2007, at his home. the Rev. Matt Pribyl will officiate in Westside Wesleyan Church at Bristol, and burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Visitation at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster. Faehn was born on Dec. 18, 1928, near Wallace to Melvin and Agnes (Kringen) Faehn. The family moved to Watertown, where he graduated from Watertown High School in 1947. He was employed at Hubbard Motor Company in Watertown. He attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls and also took courses at the University of Minnesota. He began his career in healthcare administration at Luther Memorial Hospital in Watertown in 1950. On June 23, 1951, he married Bette Wight at Watertown, where they made their home. For the next 54 years, he served in the health administration field. He was hospital administrator in Pipestone, Minn., and then moved to Eveleth to oversee the building of a new hospital. From there, he served hospitals in Albert Lea, Minn.; Madison, S.D., as administrator from 1966-83; and Cannon Falls, Minn. In 1988, they moved to Webster, where he was administrator at Bethesda Home and later commuted to Tekakwitha Nursing Home in Sisseton and to Strand-Kjorsvig Community Rest Home in Roslyn. At age 70, he retired but continued to work part-time. His last position was at Faulkton County Memorial Hospital. He served on many boards including Blue Cross-Blue Shield Board, Pace Shared Servers Group, Madison school board and numerous church boards. He was currently a member of Westside Wesleyan Church in Bristol where he served on the church board for 10 years and was a lay leader. Survivors include his wife, Bette of Webster; a son, Randy of Webster; a daughter, Deb (J.D.) Alexander of Pilger, Neb.; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a sister, Maxine (Jim) Cook of Watertown. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
