"Bob" Bever, 88, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 24, 2014. Bob was born on January 16, 1926 in Bellingham, Washington, the son of Orville & Orpha (Ambrose) Bever. He was raised in Wickersham and attended grade school in Wickersham and Acme and graduated from Mount Baker High School in Deming with the class of 1944. After graduating from high school Bob immediately joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving his country during WWII. Upon his return in 1946 he worked in the logging industry for several independent logging companies in Skagit & Whatcom counties. On June 25, 1948 Bob was united in marriage to Sharon Sexton in Sedro-Woolley and they made their home in Wickersham until settling in Sedro-Woolley. In 1954 Bob began a 38 year career with the Willis, Roger & Pearson/Sedro-Woolley Lumber/Boyd Lumber Company where he retired as a superintendent. Over the years Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing but his greatest interest was being a "rock hound". He hunted for, cut and polished all facets of petrified wood and gem quality materials for which he won many national awards.
