About Robert Aaberg

Mr. Robert M. Aaberg: An accountant with Cargill Inc. since June 1949 died at the family residence on Tuesday, September 19, 2000. During his 42 years of service to Cargill Inc. he served the company in several accounting and managerial positions located across the country. His assignments included Minneapolis, Chicago, Guntersville, Baltimore, Memphis, Kansas City, and Cincinnati before moving to Mobile in 1985 at the accounting manager of Cargill Marketing, as subsidiary company of Cargill Inc. Mr. Aaberg retired from the company in 1991. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his retirement he and his wife were called to serve a full time family history mission for a year by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He held many volunteer jobs under the auspices of RSVP and worked part time for John Sims & Son s Company. He is survived by his wife, Janet C. Aaberg of Mobile, AL; five children, Jean DeShouten of Cullman, AL, April Thomas of Knoxville, TN, Christina L. Bryars of Bay Minette, AL, Diana C. Richmond of Pensacola, FL, and Joel R. Sullivan of Nashville, TN; one brother, Darwin Aaberg of Monmouth, IL; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services will be held from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Zeigler Blvd. on Friday, September 22, 2000 at 10:00 A.M. Mr. Aaberg will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. Visitation will be at Radney-Belmany Funeral Home, Grelot Rd. on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 307 Glenwood St., Mobile, AL 36606. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements by RADNEY-BELMANY FUNERAL HOME, 6110 Grelot Rd, Mobile, AL. From the Mobile Register, Mobile, Alabama Thursday, 9/21/2000 Mr. Robert M. Aaberg Funeral services will be held from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Friday, September 22, 2000 at 10:00 A.M. with Elder Marvin Johnson, Elder Ronald Hearn and Elder Lloyd Allen officiating. Pallbearers were Christopher Allen, Brett Asquith, Justin Asquith, Warren Christian, Tony Dees, Sr., Benjamin Lundquist, Gary Lundquist and Bruce Weinard. Interment was in Mobile Memorial Gardens with full military honors rendered by VFW Post #49 Honor Guard Unit. From an email from Robert's widow, Janet: "This is to notify you that my beloved husband and companion, Robert Marion Aaberg (Bob), died on September 18, 2000 at approximately 11:42 PM in the city of Mobile, AL - County of Mobile. While he actually died on the 18th his death certificate states September 19, 2000 as this was when the death certificate was signed."
