About Ricky Bruns
Ricky Eugene Bruns, 70, of Avoca passed away on July 17, 2023, at his home. He was born on July 26, 1952, to Maynard and Geraldine (Mickle) Bruns. He graduated from Syracuse High School in 1970. After attending high school he worked at Iowa Limestone Company before becoming a full time farmer and owner/operator of heavy equipment. As a farmer he was a lover of animals. He married (Kroese) on April 6, 1973. They had four children that he enjoyed watching and teaching unique skills. He made sure his kids had opportunities to do things he couldn't. Rick was a member of the St. John's UCC Church in Syracuse serving as board president for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #237 Weeping Water, Nebraska. Another one of Rick's passions came to life when he started Git'er Done Cookin' and the family got to cater together! He valued his friends and their friendship. Rick will be remembered as an incredible father and grandfather, devoted husband, loving brother and a friend to many. He was preceded in death by his Parents, In-laws, Infant Grandson: Baby J Royal. Burial at the Avoca Cemetery.
