Oberholz, 91, of Peru, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 at St. Margaret's Hospital in Spring Valley. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at St. Joseph's Church in Peru with Rev. Harold Datzman, OSB officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Spring Valley with full military rites conducted by the Peru Veterans Memorial Group. Visitation will be 10-11:00 AM on Tuesday in the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mueller Funeral Home in Peru. Mr. Oberholz was born June 19, 1921 in Peru to Theodore and Clara (Kirzeder) Oberholz. He married Rose A. Rietgraf on January 29, 1949 in St. Joseph's Church in Peru. Mr. Oberholz was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Peru. He was a longtime member and officer of the Peru Eagles Club. He worked for Sun Oil Co. in Peru until his retirement. He loved to fish and garden. Survivors include his daughter, Christine (Art) Preci of Naplate; two sons, Richard Oberholz of Phoenix, AZ and Ted (Cindy) Oberholz of Peru; six grandchildren, Matthew, Kevin, Kyle and Katie Oberholz and Ryan and Kayla Preci and one great-grandson, Kaedyn Oberholz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose on November 24, 2006; one son, Robert in infancy; two sisters and eight brothers. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and Ashley Moore.
