R Bruce Ormesher

Robert Bruce Ormesher was born in Cherry County, Nebraska, on May 12, 1918. He was the third of eight children born to Ted and Martha Thomas Ormesher. He passed away on February 23, 2000, at his home south of Valentine. Bruce went to elementary school at Evergreen District # 53 and then attended Valentine High School. On November 9, 1938, he married Betty Harms in Valentine, Nebraska and to this union three children were born, Deloris, Teddy and Marcy. Bruce was a life-long rancher and resident of Cherry County and particularly enjoyed raising and riding good horses. He was a 4-H leader and supporter for many years. Bruce was also a member and past Master of Masonic Lodge #221 of Wood Lake, where he served as secretary for many years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Valentine. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his wife, Betty of Valentine, daughter Deloris Hornung and husband George of Lincoln, Nebraska; son Ted and wife Susan of Valentine Nebraska, daughter Marcy Cox and husband Tom Cox of Valentine, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren, Shelia Wheeler and husband John of Wood Lake Nebraska, Sheryl Hornung of Lincoln, Nebraska Tom Cox and wife Amy of Valentine, Nebraska, Jill Ormesher of Lincoln Nebraska, Stacy Sadowski and husband Kevin of Lincoln, Nebraska, Ted Ormesher of Denver, Colorado, Tim Cox of Valentine, Nebraska, John Ormesher of Lincoln, Nebraska; 2 great grandchildren, Travis and Shawna Wheeler of Wood Lake, Nebraska; 2 sisters, Doris Nelson of North Platte, Nebraska, Alice Coleman of Sacramento California; 1 sister-in -law Helen Ormesher of Wood Lake, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on February 25, 2000 at the United Methodist Church in Valentine. Masonic services were conducted at graveside at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine.
