About R Hundley
R.J. Hundley, 67, of Grove, Oklahoma, former police chief of Prairie Village, passed away January 8th at a hospital in Grove. He was born in Merriam, Kansas, and had moved to Grove in 1982. Mr. Hundley joined the Prairie Village Police Department in 1956 and was chief from 1965 until he retired in 1982. He was past state president of the Fraternal Order of Police and past president of the Johnson County Chiefs Association. He was also a past member of the Kansas City Metro Squad. He graduated from the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Grove. He was survived by his wife, Gretta G. Hundley; two sons, Michael of Salinas, California, and Mark of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; two daughters, Linda of Olathe, and Ruth of Overland Park; two sisters, Marjorie I. Wright of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Carol Wagner of Grove; and eight grandchildren. Friends called on Wednesday evening at the Worley-Liginbuel Chapel in Grove and Thursday evening at the Frye Chapel in Olathe. Services were held on Friday afternoon at the Frye Chapel in Olathe. Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Olathe. The Kansas City Star (MO) ~ Wednesday, 11 Jan 1995
