About Quilla Culbreath
Flagg-Serenity Chapel ∼ Quilla Mae Culbreth, 93, died Friday, October 10, 1997, at Shands Medical Center in Gainesville after a brief illness. She was born April 17, 1904, in Leary, Ga. to Mr. and Mrs. John (Liza Ann Ford) Jones. She was married to Johnnie Culbreth and together they moved to Palatka in 1926. She was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church and in later years she joined the Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She was a very caring homemaker who retired after 42 years of employment with the William Burt family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Culbreth in 1957, also by her brother, Booker T. Jones; sisters, Arilla Dukes and Willie Mae Thomas. She is survived by her foster daughters, Bonnie Jean Burt-Simmons of Ft. Lauderdale, Barbara Burt of Port Orange; several foster grandchildren; devoted nephew and nieces; and a host of great nieces and nephews; several god-children; other relatives and special friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, 1 p.m. at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist church with Rev. Anthony Quinn Robinson Sr., pastor officiating. Interment will be in Pattersonville Memorial Cemetery in East Palatka. Flagg-Serenity Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 17 Oct 1997.)
