Lincoln Journal Star (NE) - Thursday, November 16, 2006 Phyllis Jean Gabler, 68, Lincoln, died Wednesday (11/15/06). Born Sept. 10, 1938, Lincoln. Member of Gates of Praise Church. Phyllis was appointed by Gov. Kay Orr to the Nebraska Commission for the Hearing Impaired. She was also recognized for her service on the first Nebraska Relay Advisory Committee. Phyllis ran an in-home daycare for deaf and hearing-impaired children. Her hobbies included woodworking and spending time at her cabin and with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survived by: husband, Dayle; son, daughter-in-law, Bill and Neda Large, Waverly; daughter, Jean Coburn, Lincoln; daughters, sons-in-law, Julie and Brad Tesla, Lincoln, Patti and Kevin Searle, Waverly, Janet and Dave Wurtz, Lincoln; sons, daughters-in-law, Mike and Susan Gabler, San Jose, Calif., Pat and Lora Gabler, Apple Valley, Calif., Chris and Lisa Gabler, Wichita, Kan., Robert and Connie Gabler, Victorville, Calif.; daughter, Sherri Ko and friend Dean Trasente, Cypress, Texas; 26 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, sister-in-law, Don and Joyce King, Oolagah, Okla.; sister, brother-in-law, Shirley and Bobby Pugh, Lincoln. Preceded in death by father, Pearl King; mother, Opal Broers; sister Carol Harden. Services: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St. Lincoln Memorial Park.
