About Pedro Tacata
A native of Santo Domingo, Ilocos Sur and the son of Mariano Tacata. He migrated from Manila to Seattle aboard the SS Empress of Asia in May 1927. Along with many other Filipino "Manongs" he worked the seasonal circuit of agricultural labor up and down the West Coast. In the 1930 census he was residing in the Imperial Valley with his father, nephew, cousin, and 9 other Filipino men, working on a vegetable farm. In the 1940 census he is living in rural San Joaquin County with 8 men, including some Tabaldos who are possibly cousins and others with surnames from Santo Domingo. He eventually married Josephine Tolete, had one daughter Alicia, and settled in Manteca.
