About Paul Tackett

Paul was the only son of Thomas Wayne and Marie-Louise "Marlo" (Martin) Tackett. He never married. Paul attended Pinecrest School, St. John's Military Academy, Notre Dame High School, and Birmingham High School. He was a skilled public speaker and salesman. The following was adapted from a Facebook post written by his first cousin, Genvièv Martin Bernard, on 5 Oct. 2017. Godspeed Beloved Brother I lost my brother this week. The son of my father's older sister Marlo, Paul and I met when I visited the United States for the very first time. All it took was one glance, and we fell in "love at first sight" so to speak. As much as it can be in terms of instant, profound, undeniable connection between family members. Even though we had never before met, it felt as if we had never been apart. He instantly became the brother I never had and had always longed for. A confidant, a protector, a man who always stood by my side, no matter what. When I later returned home to Europe, he flew back to visit me in Monte-Carlo and Saint Tropez. Years later I reached out to him, explaining I was thinking of coming back to the US to seek work. I asked if he knew someone who could rent me a cheap room somewhere until I found work. His response was immediate. He had me cancel my flight reservations, saying he was booking my flight himself so I wouldn't spend money on the trip. He added he would be at the airport to pick me up and that I had my own suite, with private room and bath, awaiting me in his ocean front home. He was at the airport as promised, and whisked me away in his fancy Jaguar. I am in this country because of this man, my brother. We lived together for quite some time, sharing incredible memories and unforgettable adventures, roommates, family, inseparable and indivisible. With his larger-than-life presence and personality, Paul was one of the most unique, charismatic, generous, and unforgettable personalities anyone could ever meet. He will forever live in my heart, soul and memories. His presence and energy will never die. Godspeed my Brother ...
