Patty Jean Marsh

Patty Jean Marsh of Grand Island, age 77, passed away in her sleep surrounded by family early in the morning on February 19, 2022. There will be a private graveside service in the Phillips Cemetery. Reverend Bill Pavuk will officiate. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Born to Bob and Dorothy (Renard) Hawthorne in their Giltner family home on October 21, 1944, Patty lived a full and rewarding life. She met her husband of 57 years, Ivan Marsh, during their freshman year at Giltner High School in 1959. They graduated in 1963, were engaged on her birthday that year, and united in marriage on May 3, 1964. They began their married life together in Giltner where they had two children, Gayle and Christy, and became loyal members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. After 11 years, they moved to Atkinson, where they lived for 17 years. They returned to Giltner to settle down on Ivan's parents' family farm, which they made their home for many decades. She relished a decade working together with her sister Peggy at Windsong Cottage in Giltner, and otherwise enjoyed filling her time with cooking, collecting tasteful blue glassware, and connecting to nature. Her deepest joy in life was watching her family grow. She was excited to start a new journey with her husband in Grand Island, where they moved in November, and ensured their house was put together, beautifully decorated, and made into a home before she left this earth. She was laid to rest in her family plot in Phillips on February 21, 2022. Those left to remember her kind spirit and generous smile as they cherish her memory are her husband, Ivan; her siblings, Peggy and Ron Hinrichs (Giltner), Mike and Glenda Hawthorne (Aurora), and Myra and Deryl Bish (Giltner); her children, Gayle and Barbara Marsh (Doniphan) and Christy and Pete Straka (Omaha); and her grandchildren, Mallory, Matthew, Morgan, Olivia and husband Chad, Georgia, Jack, and Adria. She was greeted in death by her parents and her grandson Mitch.
