Patti Ann Hinnenkamp

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie for Patti Hinnenkamp, of Long Prairie who passed away Thursday April 7 in her home in Fort Myers, FL after a long battle with breast cancer. Patti was born on July 24, 1956 to Henry and Mary (Thomes) Mackedanz in St. Cloud, MN. She graduated from Paynesville High School and began working at Easterdays Clothing Store. She then started dating a coworker, Ron Hinnenkamp whom she married September 23, 1978. In 1980 the couple moved from Paynesville to Long Prairie where they owned and operated Hinnenkamp's Clothing. Patti continued to work in various retail positions within Long Prairie. However, her love for children directed her to what proved to be her true calling, Patti loved her work as a paraprofessional educator at the Long Prairie/Grey Eagle Elementary school. She skillfully touched the lives of many children and co-workers in the 20 plus years working at the school. Patti loved to attend as many school sporting events that she could as she loved seeing how her students had matured. Patti was a real social butterfly who was always up for coffee or a social gathering, and was often first to offer to bring something to share. Her baking, especially chocolate chip cookies, were a welcome addition to any gathering. The rosettes she baked at Christmas blessed many. Canning pickles, peaches and sauerkraut were also specialties of Patti's that she loved to share. In her later years, Patti was proud to be called grandma and enjoyed spending as much time with her grandkids as possible. Once retired Patti found a second place to call home in Florida. She loved the warm sunshine, baseball, and pool parties with her Floridan friends. She will be deeply missed by her family and her many friends whom she loved like family. She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Mary Mackedanz; brother-in-law, Larry Leither and parents-in-law, Herb and Marie Hinnenkamp.
