Patricia Grey Willborn

Patricia Young Willborn, age 85, formerly of Waterwood community outside of Huntsville, TX, joyfully ran into the arms of Jesus on August 15, 2023, at her home in Cypress, TX after a short illness. Pat was greeted by her parents Ernest and Lois Young, loving husband Robert Glenn Willborn and daughter Laura Josephine Willborn, infant. Looking forward to their glorious reunion are her daughter Stacye Anderson and husband Jimmy, son Tim Willborn, brother Marcus Young and sister-in-law Marjorie, granddaughters Paige and Marin Anderson and Brooke Willborn, nephew David Young and wife Amy, niece Elizabeth Lourash and husband David. Pat was born on September 21st, 1937, in San Angelo, TX where she grew up. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a BS in Speech Pathology in 1959. She was a member of Delta Gamma fraternity, graduated with honors then worked in public schools as a speech therapist. She dated Robert off and on through high school and college and they married June 8, 1963. Robert and Pat made lifelong friends during their time at Tech and enjoyed annual gatherings with the "Tech Gang" and their families. Service to her family, church and community was a priority. Pat became state certified in braille. She typed braille textbooks and read aloud to blind students in Lafayette, LA when her kids were little. She was an excellent homemaker, fixer and problem solver. For fun she enjoyed reading, crafts, sewing, Bible study, bridge, golf, boat rides on the lake, Rummikub, tea parties, and never missed an opportunity for an adventure. Because she relocated many times in her life with Robert's job, Pat had friends far and wide and she never met a stranger. She loved travel and experiencing other cultures. She worked to make the family home a comfortable and stable place no matter where they lived in the world. She especially enjoyed time with her many friends including her Spring Valley "sewing" life group, Spring Oaks Garden Club, Waterwood Women's League and Women's Golf Association, Sunday School classes, and most recently her neighbors in the Heritage Towne Lake and Community Bible Study core groups. She selflessly cared for Robert through the years he battled Alzheimer's disease and cherished spending time with her kids and grandkids, becoming friends with their friends. Pat will be remembered as someone who lived her faith and met challenges with strength, grace, determination and kindness. She made the best of every situation and did her best to make everyone around her feel loved. She was so much fun and a joy to be around. We will celebrate Patricia's life on August 31st, 2023, at West Houston Church of Christ, 17100 West Rd, Houston, TX 77095 at 10:30am with viewing beginning at 9:30am. Reception to follow and burial will be that afternoon at Center Hill Cemetery in Oakhurst, TX.
