About Patricia Plotz

Obituary for Patricia Evelyn Plotz Patricia “Pat” Evelyn Plotz passed peacefully at her home in San Francisco on Jan. 19, 2018 at the age of 76 due to complications of influenza. Pat was born on Nov. 11, 1941 in St. Louis, MO. She was the daughter of Rudolf Richard Plotz (from Germany) and Evelyn Gill Plotz (from Ruston, LA). Pat attended Zion Evangelical Lutheran Grade School where she was confirmed, and then Lutheran High School Central in St. Louis where she formed a lifelong friendship with schoolmate and neighbor Linda Shipley Richardson. After graduation, she took night courses at Washington University while working at Union Electric and then later at Northwestern Bank. In 1968, she drove across country in her Volkswagen Beetle to move to her beloved San Francisco where she worked as a paralegal/legal assistant in various law firms and later at Zurich Insurance. Her career resulted in lifelong friendships with Gerry Tiernan and Alice O’Sullivan. Throughout her life, she was a soft-hearted animal lover and had two dogs: her beloved German Shepherd named “Harper” and a springer spaniel named “Phoebe.” She also spoiled her two rescue cats named “Percy” and “Peek-a-Boo.” Pat’s fur companions truly were her joy over the years. Pat’s interests in life were travel, cooking, real estate, movies, politics and the California lifestyle. She never got tired of watching the daily fog roll in. Pat carefully studied menus at restaurants and enjoyed discovering new recipes on-line to try out at home. She especially enjoyed her annual road trips to the Oregon coast with Alice to relax and pick huckleberries. In fact, that’s where Peek-a-Boo was rescued as a starving kitten. Loving, thoughtful, kind and generous are inadequate attributes to describe Pat. She will be missed and is sadly gone too soon. Pre-deceasing Pat are her parents, her brother Richard August Plotz and her half-brother Novell Alan Plotz, and her nephew David Ashley Plotz. She is survived by two nephews: Andrew Richard Plotz and Dr. Phillip Bradley Plotz and cousins Linda Gill and Katie Bennett. Her remains (along with those of her two cats) were buried in St. Louis with her mother Evelyn at New Bethlehem Memorial Park Cemetery on March 6th, 2018. On March 25th, there will be a Celebration of Pat’s life at her house on 296 Randall St. in San Francisco at 2:00 p.m. Donations may be made in memory of Pat to the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
