Ovidio Pabon

PABON, Ovidio Ovidio Pabon, 66, of New Haven, loving husband of Migdalia Miranda, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Ovidio was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, June 13, 1946, a son of the late Candido and Isabel Ortiz Pabon. He was a devoted member of Iglesia Cristiana Puerta de Refugio in Guilford. Ovidio worked for many years as a carpenter and house painter and found deep enjoyment crafting items from wood. Many of those items were sold at various flea market venues. His hand made children's toys were especially loved and respected for their workmanship and safe design. Besides his devoted wife Migdalia, Ovidio is survived by two sons, Candido Rentas and his wife Rose Roman, and Brandon Rentas, both of Meriden; a daughter, Marilyn Rentas, of Middletown; six very dear grandchildren, Noel, Amanda, O'Neal, Kayle, Brandon, Jr., and Candido, Jr.; and two cherished great grandsons, Lamonte and Labron; six sisters, Lydia Ortiz, of Springhill, FL., Santi Medina, of Atworth, GA, Gladys Hosseini, of Jacksonville, FL., Paula Pabon, Lucy Pabon, and Maria Virgen Pabon, all of Cayey, Puerto Rico, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Ovidio Jr. and a brother, Juan Rentas. Family and friends may call at the Star of Jacob Christian Church, 506 Howard Avenue, New Haven, Friday evening from 5:00 to 9:00, with a religious service at 7:00. The funeral will be held at the church, 9:00 Saturday morning, followed by burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, 817 Old Colony Road, Meriden.
