About Oscar Brown
Major League Baseball Player. For five-seasons (1969 to 1973), he played in the outfield with the Atlanta Braves. He made his initial impact on the baseball diamond during his years at Polytechnic High School when he helped his team achieve a state championship. He enrolled at Compton Community College followed by the University of Southern California where he played collegiate baseball. While with the Trojans, he earned second team All-American honors. He was drafted originally by the Cincinnati Reds in 1965, however he would be redrafted by the California Angels and later by the Atlanta Braves in 1966. He made his Major League debut on September 13, 1973 and played in 7 games that year. In 1974, produced a .383 batting average in 28 games. After retiring from baseball, he worked as a lab technician for an oil refinery. He was the younger brother of Willie Brown who was a former NFL player and Ollie Brown who was also a former Major League Baseball player.
