Oda Emilie Comnick

Oda "Odie" Emilie Comnick was born on December 8, 1920, in Penn Township, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Fred and Magdalena (Grochow) Becker. Oda was baptized as an infant on December 26, 1920 by Rev. George Diemer and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 14, 1935, by Rev. W. Ehrhardt Diemer both at St. Matthew Church in Penn Township, Brownton, Minnesota. She received her education at a country school in Penn Township. On September 25, 1941, Oda was united in marriage to Clarence Comnick by Rev. W. Ehrhardt Diemer at St. Matthew Church in Penn Township, Brownton, Minnesota. Oda and Clarence made their home on the farm until 1969 when they moved to Glencoe. In 2012, Oda moved to Grand Meadows in Glencoe. Oda and Clarence shared over 65 years of marriage until Clarence passed away on July 20, 2007. In addition to being a loving wife and homemaker, Oda worked at Green Giant and also made clothing alterations from her home. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. Oda enjoyed cleaning, quilting, sewing and embroidering. She also loved to play cards. Oda treasured the times spent with family and friends. Oda passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 94 years and 12 days. Blessed be her memory. Oda is survived by her: Brother, Elmer Becker of Winthrop, MN; Sister, Rosie Ehlers of Glencoe, MN; Sisters-In-Law, Beverly Becker of New Auburn, MN, Myrtice Becker of New Auburn, MN, Luella Comnick of Glencoe, MN; Nieces, Nephews, Other relatives and friends. Oda is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Magdalene Becker; husband, Clarence Comnick; siblings, Leonard Becker and his wife, Esther, Raymond Becker and his wife, Helen, Halbert Becker, Linda Schuch and her husband, Ebert, Gerhard Becker, Arlene Burdorf and her husband, Elmer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arthur Ehlers, Clara Becker, Ralph Comnick and his wife, Viola, Marvin Comnick and his wife, Eileen.
