About Norma Rhoten
Norma Jean Rhoten, 90, of Austin, Indiana passed away Monday, October 17, 2022 at Terra Haute Regional Hospital in Terra Haute, Indiana Born February 19, 1932 in Austin, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Estile and Nellie (McCoskey) Polk. Norma was a member of Austin Christian Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for many years and enjoyed teaching with Esther Rigel at Austin Kindergarten. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, a past Precinct Committee Woman, volunteered at blood drives for the American Red Cross, and she loved vacationing with her family and friends. Norma was an Austin High School graduate of the class of 1950 and was an avid Austin Eagle fan. Survivors include her two sons, Rick (Carolyn) Rhoten of Terra Haute, Indiana and Ron (Diane) Rhoten of Linton, Indiana, She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Grant (Lara) Rhoten of Terra Haute, Cameron (Katie) Rhoten, of Greenwood, and Chase (Kayla) Rhoten of Linton , and 3 great grandchildren, Jack, Charlie, and Renlee, her sister and best friend, Marietta Anderson of Austin, Indiana, nephew Bob (Linda) Anderson of Austin, Indiana, and great-nieces and nephews. Funeral Service: 2:00 pm Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin, Indiana with Rev. Dave Huey officiating. Visitation will be 10 am to 2 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Scottsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Austin Christian Church or Austin Alumni Association in care of Buchanan Funeral Home.
