Sharp Funeral Home Norbert Naberhaus, 89 of Carroll, died late Wednesday evening, March 1, 2017 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The celebrant will be Fr. Brian Feller. Music will be by Kate Cuddy and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lector will be Della Lappe. Gift Bearers will be Kathy Wiederin, and Dan Naberhaus. Eucharistic Minister will be Shirley Molitor. Jamie Grimm, Tim Eickman, Jeremy Naberhaus, Joe Naberhaus, Justin Gliem, Adam Naberhaus, Jake DeBondt, Kyle Wiederin, and Tyler Naberhaus will assist as casket bearers. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, after 3 p.m. on Sunday, where there will be a rosary prayed at 4 p.m., and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6 p.m. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church Monday morning, where visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m., and continue until the time of the funeral mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Born on March 28, 1927 at the family farm home near Mt. Carmel, Iowa, Norbert was the son of Henry and Anna (Wempe) Naberhaus. He grew up near Mt. Carmel and attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School. On January 5, 1954 Norbert was united in marriage to Marcella Meiners at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Willey. Norbert farmed for a short time and then worked as a carpenter for Kanne Construction and Badding Construction. Norbert later worked for St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll and after his retirement he worked for Quandt Auto Salvage, also located in Carroll. Norbert enjoyed playing cards, bingo, gardening, puzzles and family gatherings. Most of all he enjoyed completing woodworking projects for his grandkids. Norbert was a member of St. Lawrence Parish in Carroll. Left to celebrate Norbert’s life is his wife: Marcella Naberhaus of Carroll; nine children: Mary (Bruce) Grimm of Manning, Rose (Randy) Eickman of Coon Rapids, Steve (Brenda) Naberhaus of Carroll, Mike (K’Lee) Naberhaus of Lake View, Diane (Dave) Gliem of Grand Junction, Don (Lori) Naberhaus of Manson, Carol (Jerry) DeBondt of West Des Moines, Kathy (Loran) Wiederin of Jefferson and Dan (Meggan) Naberhaus of Carroll; 27 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ann Naberhaus of Carroll; his sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law: Ruth Naberhaus of Scranton, Albert Meiners of Coon Rapids, Catherine (Clarence) Wittrock of Carroll, Bernard (Rita) Meiners of Coon Rapids and Tony (Colleen) Meiners of Carroll, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Norbert was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna Naberhaus, parents-in-law: Bernard and Catherine Meiners; his siblings: Maurice (Mary Ann) Naberhaus, Laura (Harry) Brueggen, Wilfred (Philomena) Naberhaus, Bernetta (Ray) Pudenz, Leonora (Richard) Rothmeyer, Leo Naberhaus, Ann (Virgil) Lappe, Joe (Dorothy) Naberhaus and Eugene Naberhaus; his brother-in-law: John (Margaret) Meiners; his sisters-in-law: Frances Meiners and Dolores Meiners.
