Nola Arlene Lingel

Nola Thompson Lingel passed away peacefully December 31, 2023 surrounded by her loving family, in Canby, Oregon. She was born on April 25, 1936 in Molalla, at the home of her maternal grandparents (Carl and Rossie Mitts Damm). She was the fourth of eight children born to Frank and Frieda Thompson. Nola Thompson lived her entire life within Clackamas County, attending Needy Elementary and graduating from Canby High School in 1954. November 20, 1954, Nola was united in marriage to Dwayne LeRoy Lingel at the Canby Christian Church. They were married 44 years when Dwayne passed away on July 17, 1999. Being with her family and making memories to last a lifetime were very important to Nola as was seeing old friends and meeting new ones each week when she played BINGO, bowled on a Canby league or traveled. Nola enjoyed antiquing, flower arranging and crafting, landscaping (her yard was a show place that could have graced any top magazine) and traveling. A few of Nola's favorite trips were to Minnesota, Nebraska, Tennessee, Hawaii and Canada. Nola was preceded in death by her husband, her parents (1992 and 2009), brothers Donovon (2004), Alvin (2000), and Gary (1978), sisters-in-law Marilyn (1984), PJ (2021) and Donna (2023), brother-in-law Walter (2022) and grandson, Cody (2007). Surviving Nola is one brother, Bill and sisters, Caroline, Dolores, Gloria and sister-in-law Marlene. She leaves to mourn her passing, 6 children, 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Her family would like to extend their thanks to BriteOn Hospice and Rackleff Place for their support of our mother Both were of immense help to Nola as well as her family. Nola enjoyed life, friends and especially family. She laughed easily and will be missed by many. Memorial services, celebrating Nola's life, will be held on February 10, 2024, at the Antonia Ballroom, in Canby from 1:00-5:00. Private burial will be scheduled at a later date.
