About Nadene Herland
Nadene (Cornish) Dubois Herland of South Yarmouth died June 14 at Cape Cod Hospital. She was 86. She was the widow of Edward W. Herland, who died in 1974. Born in New York City, Mrs. Herland was raised and educated in Queens County, N.Y., where she served as a Girl Scout leader for 10 years, a Gray Lady at St. Albans Naval Hospital, and chairman of Home Service Volunteers with the American Red Cross for 12 years. Mrs. Herland moved in 1957 to West Dennis, where she owned and operated the Hearthstone Antiques shop for 17 years. In 1974 she moved to South Yarmouth. She was a member of the South Yarmouth United Methodist Church and served as secretary of the official board, church treasurer, mission commission chairman, president of the United Methodist Women and member of the church choir. She was a past member and officer of the Yarmouth Grange and a member of the Olde Yarmouth Historical Society. Survivors include one son, David H. Dubois of Lake Hiawatha, N.J.; one daughter, Nadene LaFlamme of Mt. Vernon, IL; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at South Yarmouth United Methodist Church.
