About Nada Smith
Nada B. Smith, 80, went home to the Lord after a brief illness on July 10, 2012. Born in Parkersburg, on Aug. 19, 1931, she was the first-born daughter to the late Valdred and Clara T. Brown. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her husband of 50 years, Booker T. Smith; her daughters, Candace M. Mitchell (Thomas) of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Valerie C. Voliton (Sean) of Dallas, Texas; her son, Frank M. Smith of Parkersburg; and two grandchildren, Anthony Smith and Chelsea Voliton. Also mourning her passing are her sisters, Nona M. Davis and Nina L. Brown of Parkersburg, Victoria Coleman (David) of Piedmont, W.Va.; and her one remaining brother, Barry T. Brown Sr. (Helen) of Belpre, Ohio; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and five brothers, Valdred Jr., Donald, Stephen, Vernon and infant Lloyd Brown. She was a lifelong member of Logan Memorial United Methodist Church and praised her Lord with the gift of a beautiful soprano voice that could make the stain glass windows hum. Nada loved league bowling and was an avid reader, which she passed on to her children. Family and friends are welcome at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home on Green Street, Parkersburg, on Thursday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., with a private family celebration from 5-6 p.m. Her Going Home Celebration will be 11 a.m. Friday at Logan Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Beverly Columbo and the Rev. Richard Cottrill officiating. Interment will be at Spring Grove Cemetery, with a reception following at Zion Baptist Church on Eighth Street.
