Maxine Viola Tacke

Maxine R. Tacke, 70 COTTONWOOD -- Maxine Reigard Tacke was born March 7, 1937, in Marysville, Mo., to Max and Gladys Reigard. She was raised in Portland, Ore., where she met the love of her life, Mark Tacke. They married Nov. 5, 1955, and made their life together in Cottonwood. Maxine always had a beautiful smile and a quick wit. She shared her love for music and wonderful piano playing talent with everyone. Many an afternoon found Maxine, her friends and children singing around the piano. Maxine loved to read, which she also shared, by working with second-graders. One of Maxine's greatest joys was playing on the Salmon River with her children and friends. Maxine raised five children and helped Mark operate Tacke Oil Company. She also worked for the Nez Perce National Forest Service in Grangeville for 10 years and for the Bureau of Land Management in Cottonwood, where she retired in 1997. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert Reigard and Dicky Reigard. Maxine is survived by her husband, Mark Tacke; her children, Bob and wife Amy Tacke, Marla and husband Jim Stein, Marty Tacke, Steve Tacke and Clark McGuffie, and Joyce and husband Cliff Marchand; and her beloved grandchildren, Rob and Sarah Reed, Alyx, Lauren and Morgan Tacke, Shaun and Alyssa Tacke, and Max and Riley Marchand. Maxine's big heart, sense of humor and deep faith will be dearly missed. The rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. to be followed by a celebration of a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cottonwood. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Sister Mary Paule at Bethany Home. Uhlorn Funeral Home, in Cottonwood is in charge of arrangements.
