Mary Kathryn Babb

Mary Kathryn Babb, age 86, of Normal, IL, passed away Monday, May 11, 2009 at 4:17 PM at the Bro-Menn Regional Medical Center, Normal, IL. Her funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday (May 15, 2009) at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, 1115 E. Washington St., Bloomington, IL. The Rev. Scott Sherwood will be officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery, Bloomington, IL. Her visitation will be 5-7 PM Thursday at the memorial home. The family suggest memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or The Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children. Mary was born September 10, 1922 in Greenville, IL. The daughter of Richard and Ella Wilson Campton. She married G. Ancell Babb on June 14, 1941 in Palmyra, MO. He passed away September 26, 2004. Surviving are 1 daughter, Pat (Jim) Inman, Culpeper, Virginia 2 sisters, Dorothy Cooke, Chatham, IL and Betty Dyson, Centennial, CO 2 sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Bicknell and Tessie Scharfenberg, Bloomington, IL. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother Willard Campton, 2 sisters Frances Hill, Helen Vifquain. Mary graduated from Danvers High School, Danvers, IL. She worked for State Farm Insurance Co., Bloomington IL for 28 years. When she retired she was a supervisor in the Fire Company. She and her husband Ancell farmed in the Towanda area for over 50 years. She remained in the home that she and Ancell built until her death. Mary loved life, and treasured her family and friends. Christmas was a favorite holiday. She had a large Santa Claus collection. She enjoyed crocheting. She supported her husband's activities with the Mohammed Temple Shrine and Tin Lizzie Patrol.
