About Mary Archer
Groton, CT - Mary Miller Archer, 78, of Groton passed away on Friday, April 24, 2009, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London. Born in Groton on April 7, 1931, she was the daughter of John James and Gladys Tucker Miller. Mary was married to Donald Wolters Archer on June 4, 1929, in Groton. She was a past Rainbow Girl, member of the Pioneer Hose Co. #1 in Groton and the Groton Congregational Church. Besides her husband, Mary is survived by her children, Deborah A. and Richard McDonald of Greene, N.Y., Donald W. and Janice Archer, Jr. of Norwich, Cindy A. Brister of Kingsland, Ga., Joan A. Chambers of Groton, Sherry A. Archer of Fountain, Colo., Mary A. Archer of Groton; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton. Her burial will follow in the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery in Groton. There will be a visiting hour from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Pioneer Hose Co. #1 Inc., 140 Broad St., Groton, CT 06340.
